shanghai
finally got the chance to visit Univac Shanghai today! in terms of size, its much bigger than Univac Suzhou and better staffed. most importantly, they have better food too! i wish our canteen serves food of equal standard as theirs =(
anyhow, the trip came about because of some faults with one of the machines at the plant. my supervisor was called up to rectify the problem together with the clients and i was allowed to tag along! in the end, i didn't get to learn as much as i had hoped for, cause they were too busy repairing the stuff to really teach me exactly how to rectify the problem. still, at least i got to watch first hand engineers troubleshoot troubles. a glance into my future life perhaps? who knows =)
why do people like to swear? this is abit random but i encountered this particular chap in a bookstore and he left me with a deep impression. the moment he opened his mouth, all that spewed out from it was profanities. it was a simple lamenting conversation between him and a friend, about the limitations of a particular computer software. and yet he went on and on, phrase after phrase of vulgarities. i was amazed and disgusted at the sametime. while his image is etched deeply in my mind, he wasn't the only one. everywhere i go, i seem to hear loads of it. from both guys and girls.
i can accept it if its a random phrase, once in awhile. but so much so that it literally becomes the conversation? is there such a need?
