Smile even though your heart is aching;
Smile even though its breaking.
When there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by,
Smile and maybe tomorrow,
You'll see the Sun come shining through for you.
Light up your face with gladness,
Hide every trace of sadness.
Although a tear may be ever so near,
Thats the time you must keep on trying.
Smile, whats the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile,
If you just smile.
Thats the time you must keep on trying,
Smile, whats the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just Smile.
"Smile"
Music by Charles Chaplin, Lyrics by John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons
Watched 'Modern Times' by Charles Chaplin and this was one of the songs that was in the film theory commentary. Very simple lyrics, but I kinda liked it. Have a few friends who are going through rough patches now; even though I don't think they read my blog, I think this song is meant for them. Come on guys, smile. I'm sure things will work out fine.
Never knew that Chaplin's films were so profound and that they had so much depth. After going through the film commentary/write-up, I'm having new found respect for Chaplin's works. Shall try to find copies of his previous works and watch them. Anyone interested?
